Artist Statement

I have a deep love for nature and a strong bond with the sea that I have found is best expressed through photography. The ocean became my home at a very young age, one of only two constants I had in my life. I have strayed from mainstream media’s version of surf photography and landed in a deeper more translucent space where I create my vision of the earth and sea. My hope is that one day the world will see our Earth for what it is, beautiful, fruitful and yet so easily destitute. Once humans realize that Earth is mortal we can work towards the conservation and preservation of this unique home.

My photography leans towards the surreal at times with my goal of depicting a land free from the scourge of human consumption. I hope to show that humans can live in harmony with nature instead of living off the overconsumption of nature. I know that we, as humans, are killing this beautiful world slowly but surely. If we do not take action soon there may not be any beauty left for our future generations to enjoy. I cannot help but hope that I can make a difference with the tools I have and the vision I see.

My latest works on film have lead me back to a simpler time when the world was young and humans were scarce. Sea Time, my latest project, encompasses a variety of land and seascapes void of human contact. My photographs invoke an air of serenity, a comforting emptiness to the world and a forgotten perspective that is raw and timeless. Scenes of the rolling green mountains flowing to the sea and waves of blue crashing against empty coastlines help viewers enjoy the simplicity of nature. This simplicity is what many never see because they surround themselves with the concrete blocks and painted signs of society. My goal with my latest project, Sea Time is to bring back a forgotten perspective of nature to our eyes and help redefine the Earth’s importance for our future.
